Hello! My name is Josh

I have over a decade of experience in the mental health field as a therapist. I have worked in an outpatient setting, in a hospital setting; I have worked with individuals, couples, families, and groups.

Early in my career, I was working at a psychiatric hospital. I found that most folks I came across had never been taught some core foundational skills for relationships, for self-esteem, or even just emtions in general.

I designed a curriculum that I put to use in the Outpatient Department and the feedback I received was both incredibly positive and indicated that people wanted their family and friends to experience the program as well.

That is where Waypoint Life Skills comes into play. Rather than find a way to apply the education I was teaching to a treatment plan and mental health diagnosis, I decided it was time to just offer the education, free from any formal treatment or adherence to a medical justification for the need for this education.

My Approach

Much like how I do therapy, I have a pretty direct and collaborative approach to my work with people. That having been said, I also believe very strongly in having a good working relationship with my clients and I love to tailor my work to a person’s specific situation as much as I

Courses

Groupwork is where I found my calling. I have taken the old curriculum I created and refined it to a handful of 6 week courses.

Additionally, I have created other courses based around feedback I have received over the years that people wished for more information on.

Consultation

I have had quite a bit of experience working alongside the legal system, especially through Family Law. I have helped quite a number of people who are working on leaving or divorcing an abuser and assisted them with how to communicate with that person in a manner that both holds boundaries and keeps them within legal bounds.
